Current Prayer Needs

Thanks so much for your prayers for Bible translation work and our ministries prayer needs since our last update. Here’s some answers to them in blue:

 

1.     Keep praying for Muslims to see the light of Jesus and know His grace and forgiveness as they listen to the audio of the NT in their language.

2.     Peace and Protection in Chad No further attacks; the Embassy thinks Chad was too fortified a target. Our center and most large stores, restaurants have metal detectors.

3.      Judy’s joints, feet, and ankle and shoulder pain. Shoulder pain gone! Stretching/exercise is helping. But feet still an issue. See a podiatrist Sept 11. 

4.      Finding a good property management person to oversee renting our house during our 6 months in Chad. Have interviewed several, just need to decide.Time is getting short.

5.      Jim’s dad. He is still improving in mobility and strength but keeps getting an infection where they removed his chest tube in April. His nurse said it probably won’t heal.

6.      Jim’s knee. He is still having the problem and it isn’t his back, so the knee doctor will do orthoscopic exploration Sept 17th trying to find the white dot on his x-ray which could be a free floating object causing the sudden sharp pain. 

Shortly after we sent the July update, we received an email asking if Jim could teach the motorcycle safety course to 21 translators/literacy workers in Burkina Faso, West Africa. I asked, “When?” His reply was not what I expected. “Sept. 7-10.” Panic took over my mind! “Doesn’t he realize we are leaving for Chad in Oct and that is our last month in Arizona and its packing month for Chad and...” Well, he did realize that but didn’t have another French speaker who could do it. So we prayed about it and Jim felt he should go. He leaves Sept 3 and returns Sept 11. Thankfully another man is joining him to teach as it would be too difficult to teach that many students in 3 days.

Since we are hoping to rent out our house during our time in Chad we needed to do some renovations, remodeling the master bath shower and flooring because of on going issues. We didn’t get a start on it sooner due to a lack of funds, but now funds have come in and Jim started work on it last week. It is a bigger job than he thought.

So add that to the Africa trip, and packing, plus a million other things before we leave for Chad and we are busy! 

So here’s our personal additional requests:

1. Jim can finish the bath before his surgery.
2. Jim’s Burkina Faso trip, preparations for it and a good class.
3. Jim’s surgery.
4. All the preparations for leaving Tucson Oct 7. Driving to Wichita, then NC and flying out of Charlotte Oct 19.
5. Safety for Jordan who’s on fires in Idaho and NW.

The majority of those in danger of being of being lost are in Africa and Asia.  

We are thankful to be able to have a part in seeing these languages preserved and for giving them God’s words so they can know and love Him.
