Acts 6:1-7 - contextualized for filling Jim and Judy's jobs in Chad, Africa
Read this with a smile, but please do pray for new support workers like Judy and me to go to Chad.
The Choosing of the Seven
In those days
when the number of support personnel at SIL Chad was decreasing, the
linguist-translators complained against the administrators because their
projects were being overlooked in the work of getting God’s word to the people.
So the Admin team gathered all the members together and said, It would not be right for us to
neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on SIL guests and
maintain the centre. Brothers and sisters, choose seven people from among your
congregations who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn
this responsibility over to them and will give our attention
to the translation of the word and literacy. This proposal pleased the whole group.
They chose _____, full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also _____, _____,
_____, _____, _____, and _____ from _____, a convert to Christianity. They presented
these people to the elders, who prayed and laid their hands on them and sent
them off to Chad. So the word of God spread. The number of support workers at
SIL Chad increased rapidly, and a large number of Chadians became obedient to
the faith.
*Please fill in the blanks from your congregation(s).
