European Vacation

Greetings

For those who don't know it, we are still in Chad, but leaving for our “European Vacation” Thursday night, July 18th and 11:20 PM. Oh wait, I just got an email... yep, its official, its been delayed one day. But not really one day, just two hours, they call the 19th one day. But, it make our hearts skip.  Attempting to put this vacation together proved to us,  that we are the official, “Worlds Worst Vacation Planners.” You, on the other hand (who pray for and support us) are, officially, the “World’s Best Support Team.” Thank you for giving the extra funds for this much needed vacation. You have provided us with what should be, (in spite of us) an excellent, relaxing, restoring vacation.  We will never be able to thank you enough.

The “Plan” at this point, is to fly to Paris, hang out in the terminal for several hours and then on to Athens, arriving about 6 PM, Friday, July 19th. We have three nights reserved at a hotel just south of Athens.  We will mostly relax, have some beach time just across the street from the hotel and plan the rest of our trip.  Then we head east to the Aegean Sea, for three days, but we don’t have a place yet. There’s plenty to choose from.   After that we will either travel by bus or train to a “Hot Springs Hotel” on the north edge of Evia Island. We are hoping this will really help our tired bodies. The rest we have yet to plan.  We are finding that going to a modern country in the throws of an economic meltdown is going to be a bit more of an adventure than we were planning on. But, on the other hand, the volume of tourist will probably be way lower than a normal year. Thus the prices and options could be very nice for us, as long as the businesses are still in existence. The national Greek airlines are on strike, the transportation workers are on strike, the air traffic controllers are on a half day strike, today only.  (We hope!) We are being warned to stay away from large crowds in central Athens who are currently voicing their opposition to the EU austerity measures being forced on Greece.  Ahhhh, a European vacation... We are excited, its going to be GREAT!

We won’t have a cell phone, but will have Skype and email, when we get an internet connection. We will try and post our adventure and photos on our blog, so get signed up!!!

Thanks for praying for us
